The Stakes Are Higher Than Ever": Bleach Creator Reveals More on TYBW Part 3 in Major Production Update
Tite Kubo, the author and illustrator of the original Bleach manga, has shared some significant updates regarding the new animated season of Thousand-Year Blood War. The latest update follows recent confirmation that TYBW Part 3 will air this October.
Kubo made these announcements on an exclusive radio program available via his official fan club. He was joined by Masakazu Morita, the Japanese voice actor of Ichigo Kurosaki, and Noriaki Sugiyama, the Japanese voice actor of Uryu Ishida. Social media users @/IchigoTaicho9 and @/solcito93 on X (formerly Twitter) translated statements from the radio program. Kubo praised the animation team for capturing the "intense" and "expansive" feelings he wanted to convey through the series' final storyline in the latest Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Conflict trailer.
Morita joined Kubo in praising the animation of the upcoming new season of Bleach and admiring how the concept of "Bankai" is no longer exclusive to the main characters. "Akio-san's [Japanese voice actor Akio Otsuka] Bankai [Shunsui] Kyoraku is something else entirely," Morita said. "That's not fair! His Bankai is so impressive." Kubo revealed that the anime staff usually show him the trailers before release, and although they're still in a state of work in progress, he can comment based on the trailer's idea and tone. He also revealed the series' final epic storyline was planned way back during the first story arc of Bleach.
"The final arc was something I've been building and working on for a long time," Kubo said. "When writing the first arcs of Bleach, I had this vision of a Bloody Thousand-Year War in my mind. I wanted to create something epic, something that would show the true scale of the conflict and the impact it could have on the characters. The stakes are higher than ever, and that makes every decision and every battle carry more meaning. So, this arc is very dear to me because it's not just the end of Bleach. It's also the culmination of everything the Bleach characters have been through. I put a lot of my heart and soul into this work and arc, and I wanted to make sure that the readers and viewers could feel that. It was a challenge, but it was very rewarding when I saw everything come together."
